You've brought out some valid points. Certainly barbarism once highlighted the reign of Christianity several hundred years ago.
Unfortunately today, perverted and deranged interpretations of Islam are providing reasons for sub-humans to commit atrocities on a par with those of the Dark Ages.
Maybe evils done in the name of Christianity and Islam kind of balance out over the long haul.

I must admit your bias is bleeding through everything else. Don't forget that the culture of Islam pushed it way into Europe several times. And they were also driven out several times as well.
The "Barbarians" were not feral savage people they were tribesmen. The term barbarian comes from bar bar or meaning basically someone who didn't speak the local language. And the tribes were not great record keepers. The Dark ages refers to a period in Europe when there wasn't much record keeping. So in a historical aspect it is dark as there is not a lot of historical records dating from that time. It is not that Europe was dark and savage, there were just a lot of tribes living our their lives doing the same thing. In aspect just about all of native American history is dark as there is not much record keeping taking place there either.
But then again neither were the Africans, at the time nor the native Americans, the Mexicans were but not the south Americans.
Islam was the religion of scholars I do now they made a lot of important discoveries of the way that light (I wish I could remember the guy's names, but I can't) worked. But it was Galileo and newton, and eventually Einstein that really forwarded our understanding of the physical universe, and the were Catholic, and Jewish.
And back to the greater point, most barbarians were not Christain, most barbarians were pagans. Where the church had a hold there was record keeping.
But why do you believe that it was Muslim thought that brought europe out of the dark ages???
Now I'm no historical expert but the Muslims had a lot to do with bringing europe into the dark ages. Didn't mohamed fight a war from the middle east all the way to paris before the parisians turned him around??? You don't see many muslims states past turkey so they obviously didn't stick around.
Lastly Christianity arose before the dark ages, in fact. Muslims, Jews, and Christians all worship the same god. Christianity cames from Jewdeo, and Islam came from Christianity.
The start of the Dark Age was when Rome fell, and the muslims were not on the scene until after that happened.
As far as the crusades are concerned they were follish but no more follish then mohamed's jihad spreading the word of god by the sword when he advanced on eroupe they both were drivin back. In fact Jihad is the same thing as a crusade just by a differnt name.
I guess my bigest problem with the question is the writer states it from a perspective that he/she is muslim and better then the catholics. I was born catholic, but I don't think i'm any better then anyone else because of it.

First off the term "dark ages' was coined by Petrarch. It is not a neutral historical description but rather it was part of the humanists campaign to paint this period in a negative light. It was considered "dark" because the lack of historical records as compared to later times. One of the reasons behind that was the fact that many of these countries were under dispute (revolution or war in a sense) For example, Britain had the Saxon invasion. In addition the Slavs, Avars, Bulgars, fought over some of the former Roman Empire as well.
Lastly do your homework, real scholars tend not to use that phrase.
Reason 1: I mentioned it it's not a neutral term at all, instead implied political reason behind it.
Reason 2: There have been huge advances in terms of the knowledge and evidence that gave insight into the History of Europe during that time period. "Dark, no more"
How you made this into a debate about one religion being better than an other just proves your ignorance. Put on a veil that covers and shuts your absurd mouth we would all be better off not hearing your ridiculously slanted banter.

Sweetie, open your eyes. Muslims are the barbarians now. If you want to generalize. Which is exactly what you're doing. And no I am not Christian. I can't stand either religion and I think religion is the REASON there will never be world peace. But if you don't think that Islam today has the most insane and most horrible people and practices, you have been too sheltered. You can find videos on the internet that fully illustrate my point, but I reccommend you don't watch that horrible sh!t and just stay sheltered. Seriously. It's not worth it.

Well, no. Actually not.
True scholarship cannot be confined to a single set of volumes and the Islamic tradition is restrictive as to content. It is only through true critical thinking, secular scholarly leadership and scientific inquiry that advancement in the sciences and eventually the improvement in the quality of life occurred.
Islam is still basically living in the dark ages, and is buying their quality of life with money form the oil that they sell to the West. They don' teven have the technology to pump it out of the ground. They just sell the oil.
Fortunately the second largest oil fields ever discovered exist in Canada. The middle east is becoming less and less important all the time.

The progress of civilization has no correlation to whether a religion is 'greater' If I were to use your reasoning I would say Confucianism or Taoism are the greatest philosophies or religions because China during the Dark ages was the most advanced civilization in the World

If that applies, then Buddhism is a greater religion than Islam.
Thousands of people are being murdered today in the name of Islam. How many people are suffering at the hands of Buddhists?

thanks for opening this issue am a Muslim and i wish we discuss this matters with open mind and without insulting each another
the reason behind the dark ages in Europe was the misuse of authority by popes and priests and when Muslims opened Andalusia the cities of current Spain was full lights when Paris and London were still living in candles.the ruling classes in Europe were sending there children to study in Andalusia
most of the people of Spain converted to Islam (not by force)but when Andalusia was divided by the greedy rulers whom there personal intrests controlled them and stopped ruling by Islam they became weak and Alfonso took Spain and forced all the people there to be Christians
