Why are liberals/socialist so intollerant?

Obviously, I'm not implying that all liberals are intollerant, but look at France. The socilaist lost, and then they go on a hissy fit rampage. When the Dimocrats lost in 2000 and 2004, they went bonkers and started blabbering out the most insane things ever heard. Can't they just admit that their ideas lost?
