We have to take an ordinary potato and make it look like something it's not like a robins egg, person, etc.

I need some good ideas but even if your not creative give me your thoughts!

Thanks!

Paint it gray.

Now it's a rock.

Not sure if you mean that no one could tell that there's a potato underneath, etc., or just that you have to turn a potato into something else.

If it's the latter, it would be fun to make it into a figure by adding features, arms/legs, and perhaps clothing and/or accessories.
There are lots of ways to do that, but one way would be to attach a tack or nail or pin to the individual features, etc., then push them into the figure (like the Mr. Potato Head game).

You could take the eyes/nose/mouth, etc. from other figures or make them yourself --from polymer clay or salt dough, for example.
Legs and arms could also be taken from other figures or be made from all kinds of materials (could make a pointed end on some of those arms and stick it into the potato or do with tacks, etc.)
Hair could be pinned on too.

You could make any type of figure (including an animal), but a different one might be a robot. Just wrap the potato with aluminum foil before adding all the parts... then maybe spray everything with silver paint, or make all the parts from aluminum foil (you can color aluminum foil with permanent markers, or glue other things onto it, etc.).

Or just get a suitably-shaped potato and paint it brown, etc., then call it a bean.
