I bought wool sweaters at a thrift store to shrink and use the material to make pusres. I want to shrink them so that the stitches are super tight and won't ravel at all when I cut up the fabric. What would be the best way to do this?

Get the sweater wet and then put it in the dryer.

When I am worried something might ravel, I sew first and then cut. Or you can iron it onto interfacing before you cut.

The best way to shrink wool down tight enough for your project is HOT water and the dryer. You still might get some raveling. Once you cut the pattern out, put fabric glue on the edges.
