It's probably the sidestand safety switch. Part number is 27010-1185. If this switch is bad or if the wiring to it is bad the motor will shut off as soon as you let out the clutch. The switch on the clutch lever may also be bad. The part number is 27010-1094. They work in combination to keep people from riding away with the sidestand down.
If the bike dies, as if running out of power, then it is another problem. Most likely it would be a fuel problem.

That bike doesn't have a side stand safety switch.
It does have a neutral safety switch. So you can't start the engine if the trani is in gear, unless the clutch lever is pulled in (the switch is at the clutch lever).
There may be a short in the neutral circuit.
To rule out mechanical problems -
Remove the spark plugs.
Put the bike on the center stand.
Shift to 1st gear.
Try to turn the rear wheel.
If you can't turn it, something inside the engine is locked up.
