The area where you find the earthworms is the best soil. That's how one can tell if the earth is real fertile. But to put them where your plants are, I don't think they' can help unless that's where they were before you moved them. bettyk

No dont do that . It will damage the roots and the leaves will turn yellow . Earthworm can be used to prepare vermicompost. This compost is good for the plants. This is a special technique.

Betty K is right, they won't stay there unless you train them first. Make sure that you have a good bed of soil and compost mix with proper fertilizing, then the worms will come to you. They benefit the soil by their burrows that aerates the ground plus they leave good fertilizer behind..
If you want to add wild animals to your garden, release lady bugs on the plants. They will devour the bad bugs and will do tricks for you with very little training.
