I think Sirius was pretty great too. He'd be a really cool big brother or uncle to have. And I'd love to catch a ride on his flying motorbike! He would have been a really good godfather for Harry, had he knew Sirius longer. He was loyal to his friends whom he wouldn't hesitate dying for. I felt Harry's devastation when he died falling through that mysterious veil. I couldn't believe he was actually dead; I remember re-reading the passage over and over again, afraid that I'd miss something. It took me quite a while to accept that Sirius was really dead and gone, but I'm still hoping that he'll come back in the final book, if only in spirit or mirrors or whatever.

I also like Severus Snape's character. To me, Snape symbolizes an enigma. No one can ever be certain about his stand, where his loyalties actually lie. One day he's the evil master who picks on Harry, trying to get him expelled, but on the other hand, he had Dumbledore's absolute trust. Not even Harry could persuade Dumbledore otherwise. And Dumbledore was no fool. We didn't see everything there was to see on that fateful night Snape uttered the hated Avada Kedavra against Dumbledore. Dumbledore's final plea to Snape must have meant something else. Snape's expression of hatred and revulsion before executing the terrible deed must have been for something we have yet to understand.

I have a terrible feeling that Snape will be the one to die in the final book. I imagine it would be a massive wrench if he died just when the world finally get to see that Snape was on the good side after all, after performing a heroic deed that would tip the balance that could mean the difference between victory or failure in the battle of good against all evil...

Sirius was and is still my favorite. What a pity such an extraordinary guy had to die so early. The fact that he cared enough for Harry to live in a cave as a dog and eat garbage and rats just to be near him, risking so much when he knew what was waiting for him should he get caught, belies the fact that he was still suffering from his long imprisonment. He was able to put Harry ahead of his own mental anguish.
I wish we knew more about his early years and his friendship with James Potter. If he was that interesting as a tormented man, he must have been awesome as a young wizard out to make a name for himself apart from his family.
That's how I see him, anyway.

Bellatrix Lestrange. Very stable function, and malevolent. Helena Bonham Carter is such an icon. She is the suited actress for this character! Least well known, Luscious Malfoy. Edit: Oh and BurnItDo..., you would be changing your ideas approximately Longbottom xD.

Ron Weasley. No one ever really thinks of him besides the sidekick. Everyone either likes Harry or Hermione. I personally think Hermione is a bit annoying (no offense to those who like her). Ron Weasley = Love

I have two: Arabella Figg and Argus Filch. This is because they are both squibbs: Children of magical parents who were born without magical powers. It is plain everywhere that squibbs are looked down upon.

Dumbledor took Filch into Hogwsarts as custodian. Arabella Figg has powers we know not of. In "The Order of the Phoenix," she appears as a witness for Harry at his hearing. The Minister of Magic is openly contemptuous of her. "Can 'you people' see Dementors?" "Oh yes, we can see them." In the re-instituting of the Order of the Phoenix, Dumbledor gives orders that Arabella Figg be notified and included. I think that in the seventh book, it will be found that Argus Filch and Arabella Figg are magical in ways that no one imagined.

Honestly I am a Malfoy fan.. Mostly because you never actually know what he stands for (especially in the end of book 6).. There is just so much mystery about him once you get past the initial thoughts of who he is and what he stands for because of his family..

I have always really liked Luna. She is such an interesting character to me. Her idiosyncrasies and honesty and very unique way of looking at her strange world.
