Yes for horrible violent crimes, but not put in prison with adult men or women. They can serve time in Juvenile hall and then be transferred over at 18.

Yes, most definitely. Although there is a very young age (under 13) when one does not quite understand the repercussions of their actions, there should still be some form of punishment whether it be juvenile detention or a prison sentence when they reach the age of eighteen. However, at the age of thirteen an individual is certainly enlightened enough to be tried as an adult.

for the serious crimes, of course! How's it fair that a 17 year old can have a much less harsh punishment for a crime he committed than an 18 year old, who has to face the death penalty?

Absolutely. After Age 5, children know right from wrong. If not, then it's also the parents fault for being negligent and not teaching the children rules and values. Kids should never get special treatment. They get the idea in their heads that children are immune to law. They need to know that no matter what age, they are responsible for their own actions and judgement...or lack thereof.

Yeh definitely, if they commit a crime then they should pay for it, if they're young then have prisons for young people & treat them like adult prisoners. The kids that murdered little Jamie Bulger should have been hung for what they did!

If it is a serious crime?

Absolutely. If they were adult enough to commit a crime, then they deserve to be punished to the fullest extent of the law no matter WHAT.

Afterall, criminals are criminals.

For serious crimes yes.

For juvenile crimes like vandalism and drug use that they will (hopefully) outgrow, they should be treated like juveniles.
