Often, but it doesn't matter to me as much as it used to; I'm perfectly content in my own company.

Oh yes! It's one of the lonlinest places one can ever be. It's ironic; you're surrounded by other people, potentially nice people that might be interesting to get to know, but something holds you back from actually jumping into the fray and striking up a conversation with someone. I've felt it many times, and it's a very sad feeling. Now, I always try to attempt conversation with someone, anyone. It can be difficult sometimes, but it beats the opposite.

The only time I feel "lonely in a roomful of people" is when I listen to a conversation...attempt to respond with a comment...and am ignored!

Fortunately, this doesn't happen very often!

I feel more lonely sometimes in a room full of people than when I'm actually by myself.

Yes, I am single and all of my friends are married. Every time they have a party or I have to go to a wedding or shower, I dread it. I am very social so I smile and converse, but I really want to slit my wrists the whole time.

yeah...Actually I'm often MORE lonely in a room full of people than if I'm just by myself.

Good question.

Yup, quite often, but it's okay. I am getting used to feeling that way, besides, I'm not the worst company in the world.

Yes, it's very easy to do. It was very hard for me cuz I was always with my wife before. Now, I feel like the 3rd wheel.
