That would be about what happened ever since the democrat party was hijacked by the radical liberals ..The funny thing lately..is these same liberals are answering on Yahoo Answers , saying that" Hillary is about as conservative as most Republicans" . What a hunk of baloney..considering that Hillary Clinton is quoted all over years ago ..as having said ..and I quote: " See how liberal I'm becoming "..and she lives up to it ..when she isn't leaning toward communism or socialism .

It's not that people put their party above being American first! The problem is that people believe that it's only their party knows what's best for the country and the other side has to be completely wrong.

I think the majority in both parties do it, they fail to see the big picture because the pieces are scattered, by design I might add. The two party system keeps the us against them attitude alive and well. We sit on here and call each other names while whoever is in power in Washington pads their pockets until the other party takes over and pads theirs. Congress is really only one big good old boy network. Why else is nothing ever done about term limits? If they really cared about the citizens of our country they would pass limits. The longer any person is in Washington the more they become part of the system and easier for corruption to set in. I became an independent a dozen years ago. I want no part of either party. If you want my vote you have to earn it by giving me stances on issues. Blasting the other party is not an answer and it seems that has become too many politicians platforms.

Many do, those who vote for the same old corrupt multi-term crooks over and over, Dollar Bill Jefferson is a great example, professing great loyalty to a man and party that was impeached for perjury. Those are but a few examples
Today we have three parties in AMerica, the Republicans, the Soros Socialists and of course the disenfranchised democrats.
People need to get their heads screwed on straight before this thing gets ugly.
You need to quit voting party for congress, vote for the new guy who is not yet corrupted by the power and control of DC, get rid of the socialists before they destroy our economy and our freedoms.

If you read the posts and responses on this forum, you would suspect that most people put their party above their own decency and respect for others. Frankly, I can't imagine anything more unAmerican than accusing others of horrible crimes and hatred, simply because they follow a different party line.

Don't confuse party loyalty with legitimate dissent.
"Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear."
~~~Harry Truman
Yes, we still see that today with the people who still follow Bush and his Iraq war policies. We saw it with the GOP before the November elections and all the abuses and lies they perpetuated against the American people. Foley, Hastart, Ney, Cunningham Abramoff and Delay are just a few examples besides Cheney, Bush and Rumsfeld.
yes.
most of the current scandals in washinton (or at least concerning gov officials) are due to people feeling a bigger commitment to their party and the other people in their party than to the nation, the law, constitution, and they simply don't view citizens as americans (its left or right with them)
A lot of these people haven't ever been without everything being American gives them, so there's no appreciation for it.
