When was it ever illegal? I never heard of that.
Maybe if you are doing it in a public place it would be illegal but otherwise it is perfectly legal.
Is it normal for a 12 yo to be doing it? Generally 12 yo would be a bit young but if puberty has already started to rear its head for that person then why not.

actually believe it or not it does depend on what state you live in. NC has started going over old laws that make no sense and that no one enforces, such as masterbation, but here it hasn't been taken off yet but trust me you won't go to jail.
yes it is normal for a 12 year old to masterbate. small children masterbate too. it's just a part of finding out who you are and what your body parts do and what does and does not feel good. now that you (i'm assuming you're the 12 year old) are 12 you are about to go through puberty that is more than normal just try not to let your parents catch you that would be very embaressing.

In Western society, it's never been illegal, anywhere, just a "sin" in some church teachings. Where did you read that it was ever illegal?
It's perfectly normal and healthy for a 12 year old. Relax and enjoy.

It's perfectly legal in private and has never been illegal if done in private. And it's perfectly normal for a 12 yr old.

It's not abnormal for a 12 year old to do it either.
I don't think it was ever strictly illegal (who have you harmed by doing it?), but there have been lots of wierd ideas about it.

yes, its legal, and you might try using the left hand for a change. I always thought it felt different when I changed hands. Better to alternate hands so you dont put a bend in it like I did.
