Well, what's the head of the table if you have a round or square table? I don't think there should be specific seating at the table. The only thing that should be encouraged is that the family sit together to eat. Today's families are on the go too much and don't have the opportunity to be together as a family. If it was more frequently that the entire family sat together for meals, I believe it would be better all around. It would enable communication within the family. Parents would know more about what their kids are up to. And probably the kids would feel more comfortable keeping their parents in the loop.

No. Simply put, the man and woman are supposed to be partners in the household, neither is above or below the other. Therefore, there is no "head of the house" and everyone sits where there *sses find the nearest seat at the table.

I agree with you as it being more respectful towards the man. However my dad does not like sitting at the head of the table because he can't reach all the food or see the TV. Out of respect I let him choose where he wants to sit at dinner.

If the man has earned his place at the head of the table, then by all means. My Dad is still expected to sit at the end of the table, when our family is together. We respect him, and he has earned our respect.

I normally don't agree with anything you say but I do agree with that...at my home anyone can sit anywhere and yeah, I would like it if my step dad sat at the head of the table. I don't know why, but it just feels right.

Is obvious that men is on the head of the table sweetie. It always has been and always will. Keeping the table and his seat clean, nice, and tidy it has to be perfect for him.

No I don't agree with that logic but I will say that he is a very important part of the family but so are the rest of us.My only concern is that we share a meal together as a family. My husband and I are the Head of the house...together...we both make the money and we both take responsibility for our house.

Of course sweetie!
He is the natural leader and his place at the table should show that, it's a sign of respect that his wife looks up to him like that.
He is far above everyone else in his family and when he sits at the head of the table it represents that he has complete control over his household.
I love you master!
XOXO
