Well...my mom has drunk ALOT since my aunt died last year from cancer. And even before that, while she was dying. I don't have any sympathy for her. My mom needs to get on her own two feet again, and stop making me miserable. If she wants to loathe, she can take it elsewhere. I really don't know what to do. I can't even convince her. She refuses to talk about it, and then gets all offended like "What are you talking about?!" when I bring it up. I really need some advice on how to talk so that she listens, and what I should say/do from there.

First my heart goes out to you second you can't reason with a drunk. You can have her sent to a rehab plac efor 3 days againsst her will, because she won't go willing. Where she and you can get a health professional to help out with this matter. If you go to church you might want to talk to your pastor he could help. I am also sorry for the loss of your Aunt.

I know that she is just covering her pain, but you must need to relize that if you can't get her help or she doesn't help herself, you need to walk away for a while, or you will lose yourself in the fight and you both will go down, there is only so much you can do on your own. Good luck to you and I hope things get better for you and your mother,

What you should do depends on how old you are. If you are young and living at home, tell someone who can help. A teacher, a counsellor, a friends parent, someone.

If you are an adult and she refuses all help you try to offer, you have to realize you can only help someone who wants to help them self.

I know from experience. My mother has been addicted to pain medication for over 10 years. She completely denies any problem at all and refuses all help.

Do not under any circumstances, let her drink and drive. If you have to, call the police.

your mom needs professional help, lots of love and support. If she doesn't confront this on her own, you will need to document her condition on video tape and replay it for her when she's sober - tough love is needed here. I will pray for you and your mom.

steal her booze, video tape her or act like her when she is drunk, maybe she will get the hint, trouble with alcoholics, is they blame others for their problem,
instead of taking responsibility for their own actions
