I see what you are asking. Yes, if it were the other way around and she showed up, I'm sure these tribesmen and women would have been nice enough and polite enough to have come out to great her. The only real excuse I can see would be if the Queen had other commitments and wasn't available. I know there are protocols for the Royal Family but if she was there, this would seem like a non - friendly thing to do, by not at least acknowledging them. I'm not too up on the Royal Family and certainly don't want to offend anyone from England, since I don't know anything about the English customs or the Royalty. I am just using common sense., from a common person's perspective.

No one just shows up at Buckingham Palace without an appointment to see the Queen. Even the Pope would probably get turned away if he popped in for tea without an invite.

I have just watched the same programme, and we have been in debate about this all evening.
I agree with you completely. However as my partner has just pointed out, to his knowledge, there has never been a camera aloud in the Queens residence. It would of have taken a huge amount of planning for security reasons.
Sadly the only proof of this man being a King, would be the people who filmed the documentry.

Usually state visits are coordinated ahead of time. On the other hand, if some time later the Queen wants to visit that tribe he could turn her away out of spite. But it would be better if he welcomed her and offered her the hospitality she denied him.

Our Queen is a very busy woman and can't just be letting anyone come visit without prior arrangement, if she let one person in the whole of her visitors would be thinking they had the right to the same privilege too, its just etiquette to make prior arrangements first with Royalty and good for her I say.

Well if they just turned up on the doorstep then they couldn't expect the Queen to drop whatever she was doing to go and meet them! I'm not quite sure what the Queen does all day, but if you had made plans for the day then you wouldn't want someone to step in and ruin them would you?

well, hold on...i thought the queen was in America visiting Mr Bush ?
she can't be in two places at the same time ?

if she's just flown back...please give the ol' girl a break would you....she's 81 years old & probably suffering from jet lag.

if the guy was a king, he should have made arrangements beforehand....can't just turn up on someone's doorstep unannounced.

The queen didn't probaby have the opportunity to decide whether she should see or not. She is doing great for an 81 year old, but I don't see her for being bothered for some kings and queens of no consequence.

How in the world did they even get within 500 yards of the front entrance of Buckingham Palace? I find that to be pretty odd.

She probably had something else going on....I highly doubt she was just sitting in the palace eating potato chips. And BTW princes and kings in Africa are more common than you think...in fact my SIL is a princess as she is the eldest daughter of her father, who is son of the tribal chief. It isn't the same kind of royalty that we know.
