Usually I find that I'm excited and anxious to get away and take a little break or vacation. However in most cases I'm just as happy to return after my break. And sometimes I feel that I need a vacation to recover from my vacation that I just returned from.

I love getting away. Just today my mother watched the kids for a few hours for me and I went hiking the trails all by myself. It was so nice, because there was absolutely no sign of another human being, only the wildlife, and the creek running beside the trail. It was great. I felt relaxed and ready to go get the kids and come back home after that. We all need that now and then.

YES -- definitely needed to get away ...

In August 2006 -- my ex (from a short disaster of a marriage to this abusive, violent sociopath), with the WILLING HELP of an Adult Child -- BURGLARIZED MY HOME ..

There was a LOT of property stolen, there was damage to the HOME, and ... most frightening -- he intended to come back (Because he had opened my garage, got out the empty rubbermaid bins, and WROTE his name on them and lined them up in my home with the INTENT to fill them and continue with round 2 of the Burglary).

Luckily, I was out paying BILLS (like the responsible Homeowner with an Income that I am), and when I drove up to MY HOME felt something was wrong ... the front door did not look 'right' -- and I called the POLICE who responded quickly.

What was SHOCKING and FRIGHTENING was the reaction of the OFFICER -- I HAD TO DEMAND That the evidence be taken into custody and marked correctly, DEMAND the papers so I could write up the complaint, and had to FOLLOW UP with the case and am still waiting for it to go to court at this time.

MY Sibling paid for me to travel immediately to their home ... for a few weeks of relaxation and just to be OUT of the area so that they would KNOW that I was safe ...

I dreaded coming back to my home (Even though I did find out before I went back there that the ex was arrested while trying to use my Identity by the Federal Authorities) ... because I knew by that time that insurance does NOT cover situations like this.

So I've reconciled to NEVER Seeing my property (the stuff carried out of the home) ever again -- just like all the other times this ex has re-appeared to do this (and he is supposedly settled 3,000 miles from my home).

I've also started the repairs on my home (and I am doing my own labor -- can't afford to hire help), and within a couple of months -- a Heavy Piece of Lumber fell on my foot -- and all the toes (except 1) were broken at the Joints (yes, all of them), and I also broke the outside metatarsals too). So I've been on crutches for now 3 months -- and the weight bearing bones are very difficult to heal. I have to keep the foot protected, in the supportive boot, and on crutches until it stops bruising and swelling -- and the pain is gone. IT could take up to another 6+ months to heal at my age .. which is sad.

Fortunately ... or unfortunately my J O B takes me "away" quite often ... it is really great to "get away" but it is also nice to come back home ... hotel rooms/beds/ etc. are not the same as home ...

... but you do need some space ...

It always feels good to come home to your bed, your favorite easy chair, and all your familiar stuff.....but 2 hours into the Monday workday, and my hard-won peace of mind is already up in smoke!

Love your question! I'm usually all for coming back home except when I go to the islands...then I think "it's the island life for me!"
