It has happened before. Sometimes its too early for urine pregnancy tests to pick up on the hcg hormone in the urine (false negative). And it is possible to menstruate and still be pregnant.
I'd wait a few days and test again if you're still questioning it I'd make an appt for the ob/gyn. They can run some blood work to check for pregnancy.
I'll include some sites for you to review for info on the subject. Good luck!

Yes it is possible. However, if you had a normal period and a negative test I would say that most likely you are not pregnant. If the test was a blood test that was negative then I would say you definantly ARE NOT pregnant. The reason is that a blood test can detect pregnancy within 5 days of conception. Hope this answers your question! Good luck!!!

Yes. Especially if you have an ectopic pregnancy. This is when the fertilized egg implants in the fallopian tube instead if the uterus. You can still have a period because the egg is not implanted in the wall of the uterus. This also can show up negative on a pregnancy test because your body thinks it isn't pregnant, and a pregnancy test goes by the same hormones that cause your period to stop during pregnancy.

Well, it's possible to have your period and still be pregnant. I guess it would be possible to also test negative, if it was still early in the pregnancy. Test again in a week or two to be sure.
I had my period for 2 months into my first pregnancy.

I know that my mother in law did not even know she was pregnant at first, she continued to have periods until the second trimester i think. I'm not sure if she took a test or not early on. But she was pregnant and had my husband and his twin.

Highly unlikely. A period is the shedding of the inside of the uterus lining. The egg is nourished in the uterus. If there is a period, that means there is no fertilized egg.
