Among the many deceitful scare tactics that Bush repeatedly uses to justify his unjust war is, “We’re fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them here.” Have any of you really bothered to analyze the absurdity of this statement? There are over one billion Muslims worldwide. If only ½ of one percent are extremists willing to die for their cause, that translates to 5,000,000 terrorists. Why does our occupation of Iraq prevent any willing terrorist from “fighting us here”? How does our presence in Iraq stop them from coming here? Why would they voluntarily stay over there? Of the 5 million, they can’t spare a few thousand to infiltrate America? Why wouldn’t they? Furthermore, isn’t it Bush’s #1 job to protect the borders? If the borders are secure, how can they “follow us here?”

Imagine a group of terrorists sitting around a campfire, toasting marshmallows.

“Hey, Ahmid, why don’t we fly to Mexico, secretly enter America, and blow up a football stadium?”
“Well, Tazik, that’s a great idea, but as long as the Americans are here in Iraq, we must stay put?”
“But why, my brother? Wouldn’t it be great to catch them off guard?”
“It would, but we have strict orders from Osama that we must fight our holy war with fairness. And it wouldn’t be fair to take advantage of our bitter enemy.”
“So, when will it be okay to invade the USA?”
“As soon as they leave Iraq, we will buy first-class tickets and follow them home.”
“Great idea, Ahmid.”

The notion that the 5,000,000 or so terrorists worldwide subscribe to some kind of ethic or ideal that prevents them from “invading” America until we leave Iraq is absolutely imbecile. Whether you support the war or not, anyone buying into this ridiculous premise is pathetically naïve.

As you can tell by the answers given by "thegub", "Drmeth", "playball", "RKO", "heather", "kvery", & "guitar" (unfortunately, according to the number of answers, they exceed 32% of the total replies to your question)..... NONE of them address your original analysis of the subject at hand, the "We're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here" pro-war rationale.

Instead, they just attack your use of the word "fairy tale", attack all liberals in general, or avoid the issue & bring up another one (the "Dr.Meth").

Obviously, they do so because they are unable to attack your basic argument - so they attack you instead. Their reaction demonstrates the weakness of conservative pro-war logic, which I guess is why they go to war & shoot first, and then ask questions later about WMDs (talk about Mr. Bush unintelligently acting on "poor intelligence", or worse "fabricated intelligence"... and then all these still pro-Bush people STILL having faith in his intelligence!!! Evidently, a great indication of their own level of intelligence).

I thought your argument was original, well thought-out & well-laid out (unlike the pro-war response). The use of the fictional conversation was also original & humorous.

Keep it up!

They should have done a past life regression on Bush....they might have found that he was Captain of the Titanic, or perhaps the Pilot of the Hindenburg. Seriously, no I do not believe the fairy tales. This follow us home deal is ridiculous. Does he think they cannot find America on a map? The logic of this administration is so convaluted that next I anticipate him to invade Mexico or Canada. (They got em....gonna use em...gonna git us.) All he needs is an Elmer Fudd hat and a rifle and to ride off in search of them.

“Hey, Ahmid, why don’t we fly to Mexico, secretly enter America, and blow up a football stadium?”
“Well, Tazik, that’s a great idea, but as long as the Americans are here in Iraq, WHY DON'T WE DO IT IN THE ROAD?”
“But why, my brother? Wouldn’t it be great to catch them off guard?”
“It would, but we CAN TAKE THE BUS TO IRAQ, I BELIEVE MOE WOULD HAVE GIVEN US WINGS IF HE WANTED US TO FLY”
“So, WE WILL NOT invade the USA”

You think that the first attack on the WTC and teh explosive expert fled to Iraq. Means that Bush set that up too.

Take note of the other handy work around the world.

First, because we took out their power and supply and disrupted their network we can now follow the money and supplies to locate them and while they are working hard to stop a nonsectarian government from working that will pose as a constant threat to the terrorist way of life we are eliminating more of their key leaders and keeping them on the move.
Second, if you don't see terrorism as a threat and don't think 911 was real then you live in the land of make believe. If 3,000 innocent Americans can die without retribution to those that claim it then you do not know when to fight or how to protect your country and should let those who do know go and do it with your full support. Al Qaeda is the enemy and they know it and we know it. How come you don't know it?

The answers to your own questions are obvious and I guess only 32% are smart enough to get past the liberal propaganda to realize it. You are very small minded and simple aren't you.

By the way. If you want to talk about scare tactics let's talk about this one. Do you remember the statement in 2004 made by all of the liberals that was, "If you reelect George W Bush the draft will be reenacted" so vote for Kerry? You probably don't because you are small minded and simple. For those who do remember saying and thinking that I ask you how many people have been drafted since Bush was reelected?

You antiwar people all sound the same with the same old rehtric complaining and whining never thankful for anything. As far as the borders go you have a democratic congress who isn't doing anything to help, in fact they were at one time for giving them amnesty. Now go out and do something for the good of the country instead of all the complaining.

Well, I was one of the 30% who knew Iraq wasn't connected to 9/11 in 2003, so I guess I'll be one of the 30% who knows that Iraq was connected to other terrorist organizations and thinks we did the right thing in deposing Saddam and trying to create a stable, free country in the Middle East.

What a horrible thing to try to do.
