We all have the right to feel insulted by what a person may say. However, even though the movie 300 did not follow history to the letter, they have no right to say that it is wrong. After all, the battle did take place and the Spartans were slaughtered eventually. though the Greeks did win the war.
Also, it nice to know that this attack was based on revenge of a grandson whose grandfather lost a battle previously against the Greeks. Talk about holding a grudge, huh?

I think its petty, another way for the Iranian government to stir up their people into thinking the West hates them. In my opinion, more than half of the people who watched the movie 300 probably didnt care/realize that the character was from Iran. Westerners are smart enough to know that just because a certain person was from an area you cant hate that specific place. Look at any movies about WWII or the Holocaust, you dont see Germans running around insulted cuz they showed German officers carrying out the genocide.

Sure they have a right -- afterall they did kick the Greeks rear-ends up & down AND were crazy enough to WALK for 4.5 years to get there from Persia (think about that). The Iranians are like people from Texas, in America. They think they are the biggest and the best. There's a collective ego in Iran that collects all the history of Assyria, ancient Persia and the Ottoman Empire... then mixes in that the dawn of man ourselves is said to have been spawned from the 'Fertile Crescent' of the Tigris & Euphrates rivers.. (but who knows where they were then, considering plate tectonics). Without digressing, let me say that their honor & history and present agitation and threatening of the USA etc. that's at their doors right now (front & back) all boils down to one thing. They think they're colossal and important. They of course, live in their own world -- like a overmothered child. They've really GOT to get out and meet the new centuries (post say, 1300 AD). Live a little, you know?

Yes! They are people too, and nobody has the right to insult somebody like that! I totally agree with you!! Have they done anything to anyone? They are trying to live in peace, minding their own business and they are being treated this way...its just wrong. This is actually one of the most sensible questions ever asked. Thankyou!

I think that they shouldn't be. If we looked at the movies from a historical point of view, where do we draw the line at taking offense? Every country has some unsavory period at least in their history i.e. slavery, the Crusades, the witch hunts, just to name a few.

iran has such a rich historical culture that nobody can insult it by just making a movie, a movie which has nothing to show to people other than violence, this is american's way to fight with facts, whenever they have problem with s.o they make these kind of movie for them, and there are so many stupid people in this world that they prefer watching these movies than doing some research .NO 500 YEARS COUNTRY CAN INSULTS A NATION WITH MORE THAN 2500 YEARS BRIGHT CULTURE....!!!!

Well yeah they have a "right". But if they are insulted it's a bit stupid - I mean, I'm British and I wasn't insulted by something like er... Braveheart (actually, I was, but only because the film was shockingly bad - not because it was zenophobic). Or the fact that Alan Rickman is the bad guy in every single Hollywood film.

No, they do not. It is a movie...based on a comic book, not fact. I doubt most Americans even know that Persians are Iranians anyways.

There are far more important things in the world to direct your anger towards than a Hollywood movie.
Petty.
