I have been having differences of opinion from my family for a long time. It has been years. I have been put through a lot by my family and I can't take it anymore. The main reason for my wanting to leave is there is always screaming at me in my house. I suffer from migraines and when stress comes on I get severe migraines which causes me to miss school. Anyone who suffers from migraines know that they are debilitating. My question is how could I be emancipated in Pennsylvania. I am 15 turning 16 in 2 months. I'm sure my father could let me live on my own but what I need to know is how much money I need to make a month in order to live on my own. I have a job now where I only make $150 a month but as I turn 16 more jobs will open up for me that will pay more. All advice or information is appreciated as this is a very important subject for me. Many thanks.

I emancipated when I was 16.

First, the courts had to make sure I had provisions for my own healthcare, education, transportation, and shelter. Once I had established those, the court allowed the emancipation. However, I turned 18 before it officially finalized. So it does take some time. Also, the court was aware of illegal activity and divorce occurring in my household, so they supported my decision to leave. It helps greatly if you can demonstrate that emancipation would be in your best interest with regard to your safety or health. Medical documentation would also be of assistance to you. You can get a court-appointed attorney to draw up the offical request. This can be done by requesting from the court.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Is there a support group of emanicipated teens in Pennsylvania? Google it and see what comes up. Also check with your state's unemployment office for I am sure that they can give you some really good advice in terms of finding a job that works around your school's schedule. They tend to have career counselors there and I am sure they can help. Set up an appt. with them. I would also suggest that you not drop out of school if you can help it cause in these days and times you are going to go nowhere without a diploma.

It would be wise to look in paper to check on apartment prices and call to find out if they would rent to a 16 year old emancipated minor. Plus ask around as to how much utilities cost in your area. Its alot more expensive to live on your own than you might think. You can always contact social services and perhaps they'd put you in foster care or or a group home.

Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at
