how strong are the winds on the SURFACE of venus

The surface of Venus is rather rough. It is mainly rocky with canyons, mountains, just think that it is like a huge mountain that has been all crumbled up and sprinkled around.

The winds on Venus vary, from gentle to extreame. The atmosphere affects the wind greatly. A 4 mph here on Earth is like a gentle caress, but on Venus (because of the massivly dense atmosphere) it would be like standing in a river.

I hope this helps (im sort of an astronomer)

The average temperature on Venus is close to 800 degrees farhenheit, hot enough to melt lead, and the winds are extremely strong because of the dense atmosphere. Too bad, because when I was a boy no one knew anything about Venus and there was great speculation that Venus, "the twin sister planet of Earth" because of very similar diameters, might harbor life.

sulfuric, extremely thick hot atmosphere that is so dense it captures much heat from the sun, so it is much like a greenhouse effect, lots of chemicals in the atmosphere. It could never be an inhabitable planet for humans
