1) Chemical

2NO2 --> N2O4

N2O4 + H2O --> HNO2 + HNO3

2) Physical

a) IR Both molecules should have very different and characteristic spectra.

NO2 would have distinctive N=O stretching bands,

whereas N2O would has a distincting N=N stretching band.

b) NO2 is a yellow fuming pungent gas.
N2O is a colorless odorless gas.
