I have a memory stick to store data to but I keep getting an error msg every time I try to transfer data to it .What can I do to fix this problem "the directory or file can not be created " is the error msg

I do have windows XP & I do put my files I created on desktop(none belong to other people)( onoe is copyrighted)& most are Emails of records I dictated

I said none is copyrighted I think my keyboard is possessed or I'm loosing my mind It's been a hectic day

check in device manager under USB devices to insure there isn't a conflict with the flash drive. if there is, click the device with the yeller exclamation point, and select update driver. check windows update first, then check the manufacturer's website. if everything is good there, make sure you are logged on with an account with write privileges to the flash drive.

well to start with if you are running Windows ME or earlier you can't with some sticks. Check your sticks minimum requirements. Next if you are running 2000 or XP try do create a file on the desk top. If you are transferring entire programs copyright won't let you. Now saying all that is your stick working in another machine? Might be your stick or your computer's USB.

What I'd suggest that you do is trying to move the files and folders onto the Desktop and then simply dragging them onto your stick's icon.

The icon may be located under the My Computer section, however.
