Well, first of all Beckham is now playing in Spain--not England.

And, yes, he will be a great addition to the LA Galaxy and to US soccer as a whole. First, he's a very good player--he's not too old and still has a couple good years left in him. So he has a lot to teach the MLS players. Second, he seems to be a perfect ambassador for soccer in the US because, again, he's a good player, he's respected in the soccer world and he's charismatic. Personally I'm looking forward to his appearances on the sports radio shows with an ingnorant, soccer-hating host, e.g., Jim Rome (FOX), Colin Cowheard (ESPN), etc. I think than Beckham will really make these types appear as they are--ignorant of soccer.

To answer the original question, yes, adding Beckham will be good for the Galaxy and MLS, both on and off the field. The team is currently at the bottom half of the table and could use a quality playmaker/set-piece taker like him.

Financially it is already paying off. He sold 7,000 more season tickets in LA alone and brought a lucrative jersey sponsor deal along. The club already recouped half of the money paid to Beckham, and he hasn't even played a game yet.

I don't know the latest on his injury that he suffered in the off-season but I have to think any futbol player like Beckham will be a welcome addition to any MLS team in general. Not only will he make an impact on the team but I think he will help generate a lot of buzz for the league as well. Or he could be a tremendous flop who only plays a few games because of his injury and ends up being a complete waste of money. I hope the latter is not the case but it does happen in sports.

Good for publicizing the US game and The Galaxy but he'll probably get injured. It means they'll have someone other than Landon Donovan for the set pieces.

of course he's a good addition, he's better palyer than the rest of the team put together. I reckon he'll hate playing for that team though. we'll see. he just wants the $$$ and his wife wants to be a Hollywood star, that's why they are coming here, I think.
