I believe Alan Colmes knows how whacked out the far left is and he does ascribe to their politics.
I also think that to keep the ratings high on Hannity and Colmes, he plays devils' advocate with Hannity and plays the far left card for TV theater.
Deep down, I think he is more right of the far left that he would have you believe.

Fox News is primarily Republican Conservative views. Alan Colmes, is a push over, they allow him to appear on the show with Hannity, because they know he can be bullied and shut up. If you noticed lately, his primary function on that show is to stop the guest from talking and go on to a commercial, or the next guest. Fox won't allow an actual Democratic Debator on their show, could you imagine them calling Lou Dobbs to come on and give his point of view vs the idiot that spouts drivel and starts to turn red in the face with fury, while issuing threats to his guests when they don't agree with him, who is that guy? ....Oh yeah, O"Reilly. The guy can't stand anyone to correct him, and makes a fool out of himself almost every time he's on. Don't get me wrong, I agree with his outlook on Illegal aliens, and his treatment of child abuse or pornograghy offenders, as a matter of fact, I'm surprised to hear some of the good points he makes on common sense issues, it's just a shame he can't get out of the Bush Wacked chain gang, and I think he knows his views are ridiculous when he backs up the President, but he must have signed a contract or something. Anyway, that's why they can't have a real Liberal, Democrat, on thier station to debate, it would take away from the lies thier other debaters are trying to sell to the public.

First, Colmes is a moderate (he calls himself a moderate) and was hand selected to make Hannity look better. Also, let me tell you, when I think of civil discourse, I think of Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, Hannity, and Rush (please note the sarcasm there).

We probably would if we were face to face like him and Hannity, but it is easy to be a jerk on a computer. I actually came on here the first day wanting to debate civily, but then saw all the insulting questions about liberals and started insutling people right back

There is little civility in debate these days. Colmes should be applauded for his ability to maintain composure unlike the majority of his colleagues, both democrat and republican.

He's probably afraid of Hannity. He knows he would get his fragile looking but beat if stepped out of line. The poor fellow looks like death anyway... A few more liberal examples would be. Hmmm. The entire media spectrum except for a few on Fox News. Listen to Chris Matthews and Keith Olberman. These idiots foam at the mouth everyday spouting their hatred for our President. The sad thing is people believe their bs.....

so, you think it is appropriate and important that Colmes is polite and civil, while sitting right next to him is Hannity who is the most uncivil , most impolite person on t.v. why is that???
also glad to see you are a typical conservative hypocrite. you call for Liberals to have civil discourse , but yet when you ask and answer questions, you frequently use the word "Libtartd". You are a complete hypocrite.
by the way, just the pairing of Colmes with Hannity is a very typical example of how FOX NEWS is NOT fair and balanced. Colmes, although probably a very nice guy couldn't stand up to my grandmother in a debate.

As a SOCIALIST (not a liberal), I have to say that it's pointless to be civil to someone on the Right. Your policies consistently harm working class people regardless of how "politely" you shove them down our throats. I'd say worse, but I don't want this post removed.

When did Rush Limbaugh, O'Reilly and Coulter become libs? Please, don't try to bullsh*t people who are fed up with bullsh*t. We all know that the right is incapable of discourse let alone CIVIL discourse. You lost all credibility that you might have had at one time in your life.
