okay so i had a test on venus and i seem to have flunked it, but my teacher is giving me another chance, so i have a few questions to ask you and if there is any information you can give me to help me study. thanks alot!

1. What does a greenhouse effect mean?
2. What is Venus's atmosphere thick with?
3.What does it mean when there is sulfuric acid on a planet? (like what will be on the planet if there is sulfuric acid)
4.What is Venus's atmosphere made up of?
5. What is the rotation of venus?
6.Does Venus set in the east or west?
7. What is sulfuric acid?
8.Are Venus's days longer or shorter than earth's?
9. Is Venus bigger or smaller than Earth?

i know this is alot but I really need a good grade on this. please help me. and serious answers too!

1. The green house effect is mostly due to Carbon dioxide/monoxide in the atmosphere. It means that solar radiation enters the atmosphere, but leaves at a much slower rate. It's the reason why we're concerned about the amount of polution in our atmosphere - it's raising the Earth's temperature as well.
2. Venus' atmosphere is made of very dense clouds with CO2, mixed with Sulfer dioxide.
3. It means there's a lot of sulfer in the atmosphere, which could mean there are volcanos.
4. Mostly Carbon dioxide (CO2).
5. Venus actually rotates *backwards*.... On venus, (if you could see it), the sun rises in the west and sets in the East. Very slowly. It rotates once in about 245 days, even though it's year is only 225 days long.
6. Venus always sets in the west, at least when looking from Earth...
7. H2SO4 is sulfuric acid - which is intermixed in Venus' atmosphere.
8. Venus's days are much, much longer... about 230 days long.
9. Venus is slightly smaller - about 500 miles in diameter shy of what Earth is. (It's why it's called Earth's sister planet.)
6.

Greenhouse effect means that gases in the atmosphere scatter infrared radiation, reducing its tendency to dissipate into space. Sulfuric acid, which comprises much of Venus's atmosphere, is effective in this regard, causing Venus to be quite hot -- hot enough to melt lead. Venus' rotation is retrograde -- it rotates backwards from other planets, turning clockwise as seen looking down at its north pole, so the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. But because of the cloudy atmosphere, the sun is never seen from the surface. The rotation rate is very slow -- it takes 243 days, about a Venusian year, for one rotation. It is slightly smaller than the earth.

Depending on how old you are, see the first or second source for more details.

Venus is almost as big as Earth.
It rotates very slowly.
It has a think atmosphere of carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas.
A green house gas lets light pass but not heat. So sunlight comes in, heats up the surface and the heat can't get back out so easily which makes the planet heat up.
Sulfuric acid is extremely poisonous.

greenhouse effect is when there is a blanket of gas trapping heat inside the planets atmosphere. The heat cannot escape, and therefore keeps heating the planet.

The Atmosphere is thick with sulfuric acid in gas form. nasty stuff.

I found a website for you with some good facts. I hope this helps.
