An acting career rarely means acting as your sole source of income. And in any case, the answer is zero to twenty. Some people study all their lives, and some people had very little formal training and just hung around sets and shows long enough to get work.

A good school should help you realize where you want to focus your acting, what you like about performing. That can take from a few minutes to becoming a professor yourself.

If you want to be an actor: Act! If you want to be a great actor, work hard to become one. If you want to be a famous actor, work hard, abandon all else and get lucky!

There is no correlation between years of schooling and an acting career. Some of the dumbest dodos have become on screen idols. It is your acting ability, your looks, and not your schooling that determines if you are the next Carey Grant. So, go for it !

There's no fixed answer to that. You should study for AT LEAST a year before you even consider trying to audition.
It takes years and years to get good.
