Traveling this month from US to Canada and back this month with pet dog by automobile. What do I need to have with me concerning my dog when crossing the borders?

You will need a current certificate of rabies vaccination. It must be the certificate, the tag on the dogs collar is not sufficient.

Records of other health care, if you have it, can be brought too, but the above is the important part.

Be aware that coming back into the U.S., you are not allowed to bring over any pet food, rawhide chew toys, treats, etc. that were not originally purchased in the U.S.

I just adopted a puppy from the States - I live in Canada. All that they asked for (coming into Canada) was for an up-to-date Rabies certificate. I think it's the same going to US because I asked at the US customs on my way over and that's what the border agent said. To be sure though, check out the Canada and US customs websites ... you should be able to find the info there. Or you can call them.
