Airing it out for a couple of weeks....I bought a book off of ebay and it completely reeked of smoke. I just put in our family room and forgot about for a couple of weeks and then it smelled of nothing. Hopefully this helps!

The musty smell gives your book character. Why do you want to get rid of it? Maybe one day it will become valuable.

I would lay it open out in the sunshine for a little while. Perhaps you can wipe down the book with a dryer sheet too. Good luck!

sprinkle with baking soda between the pages and put in the sun for a couple of days. Shake out the soda and that should help.

Try putting it in a bag with some baking powder and shaking it around, let it sit awhile and see if it helped.
