If average people are being virtually left out and corporations use lobbists to sway our elected officials, what would you call our government?

The U.S.A. is a republic - NOT a democracy. A republic is a nation ruled by representatives of the people who elect them. A democracy is a nation ruled by the people.

As Thomas Jefferson once said: 'The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants'. Unfortunately, we are way past the time to stand up and take our nation back to its rightful owners: "we the people". Our lackadaisical society has allowed the tyrants to take over, and - like lobsters languishing in a pot of lukewarm water - we won't do anything about it until the water in that pot begins to boil over. Then - and only then - will we start screaming in agony over our own apathy.

When corporations, lobbyists, and corrupt representatives are allowed by "the people" to rule this nation, it is the end of our rights, our freedoms, and our national heritage. Don't be surprised when your grandchildren or great-grandchildren find themselves under tyrannical and oppressive rule not any different from the people alive today in the Dominican Republic or Haiti. And it will be because of our own hubris, sloth, gluttony and arrogance that it was allowed to happen. -RKO- 05/08/07
