"It" is probably the best thing King's done outside of the Dark Tower books, IMO. Its scope is nothing short of epic, and if you've seen the TV miniseries, the book is about 8,458 x scarier and more disturbing (in a good, interesting way).
If you can only choose one of the three, definitely go with "It." It's full of unforgettable characters and moments.

Get them all, Stephen King is our Poe. He can do no wrong, well ,then there was "Christine."
If you want another real ride try Gabaldon, Diana,
Her Historical/ Science Fiction/ Romantic novels are wonderful.

I would suggest all of them, but I think "It" is the best, followed by "Misery" and then "Thinner."

"It" was far away the scariest of those three for me. I mean, children! In danger! Equals scary!
