are there certain ones i want to stay away from, do i need to pay a lot for a good one or are you just buying the name on some of these help me out, thanks

I agree with the above answer about the Valentine One. This detector is not cheap, but it has the advantage of listing the number or radars that are in the area. For example, your detector goes off, and in a little while you see a cop on the side of the road. You slow down and go past him, with your detector still chirping, once past him you speed up and guess what? There is another cop just down the road and he nails you. With the Valentine One, when it goes off, it will show you how many radars there are, and in what direction they are coming from. In the same situation as above, when the detector goes off it will show 2 radars both ahead of you. Once you pass the first one, it will show 2 radars, but now, it says one ahead and one behind. So you know there is another one ahead and you stay slowed down and get past the second one. good luck
