You might, or you might not.

Some women dialate before labour begins without feeling anything.

Others are still closed up tight until labour starts and feel the whole thing.

You don't necessarily feel when you dialate, you feel the contractions. For me I just had mild cramps on and off most of the day before my water broke. When your contractions get closer you are usually more dialated. But the actual dialation is not noticable, at least not with the contractions.

Most people dilate at least a little bit without labor, especially first babies. You may feel 'tightening' in your belly that is relatively painless - called 'Bracton-Hicks' contractions. Some people never feel these, others have them every day.
When you get uncomfortable contractions that; are 5 minutes from START of one to START of next one, last 60 seconds, and have been coming for an hour, it is time to call the doc/midwife. If your water breaks, call right away. If you bleed more than a teaspoon, call right away.
True labor contractions are hard to describe because God gives us amnesia.
If you cannot talk or move during them, they are probably 'real ' ones. I told my husband they felt like someone was crushing my cervix with a pair of pliers.

i dont believe you feel it.. my doc. told me you could be 2cm dialated for days, and you'll never know, and it still doesnt mean baby;s coming anytime soon.. But ideally you start dialating when labor begins, before your water breaks. You feel strong contractions and maybe back pain

Not really...I didn't feel it. I did feel a twinging kind of like an electric shock pain around my cervical area as I started changing, but I couldn't say,"ah I just changed my cervix. I felt it open" but as time approaches you will feel the shocks that lead up to it.

No i don't think you can feel it. The only thing i felt was the contractions and the crowning of the baby. I had a ep.and when i was dilated all the way i felt the baby crowning and it was time to push.

Most people have no idea until their doctor points it out. But some women do find that they feel a bit irritated internally. Once your in full blown labour though, you can feel it and it's pain like no other!!!
