The only people that are in a position to help the blood soiled image of the Muslims, are the Muslims themselves.
Muslims it pains me to tell you this because most of you did nothing to create the current issues and social stigma associated with the culture.
Do not mistake the respect you seem to receive from others, for it is actually fear, contempt and loathing.
You have allowed the action of few to represent your culture. Many people understand that Muslims, like any other group have good and bad in their community, however given the hype of today, they as a group need to openly condemn those who would insult and malign their culture and religion. It is the responsibility of the culture to police it’s self first.

i completely concur. its tough being a moslem and not a terrorist because of this whole jehad thing. just because of some few guys with AK-47 with them one of the nicest people of one of the nicest religions are suffering...

Living in the south all my life,I have been exposed to just about every type of religous discrimination there could be.My chosen spiritual path is Wicca and has more or less always been.Organized religion is not for me.YES!I do agree the Muslim culture has definitely got to educate the public about the Muslim life.I'm a nurse and have worked closely with many famlies and their loved ones and it was so awesome to see love and respect for each other that were of the Muslim faith.Freedom of religion is not understood in this neck of the woods.Very few grasp the understanding of "freedom".It's only if you do it our way and convert to Christianity.If I did go with the organized way I am "Episcopalian" but if I wore a pentagram to church I would most likely be told no more or maybe just do not come back.The 'witch hunts"are still alive and going strong.I had heard that a group of muslims had wanted to present facts about their way of life(not the radicals) on PBS but it was not allowed to be.
So again,I do also agree,It is their responsibility to get it out there!What people do not understand,they are afraid of and then fear being destuctive takes over.

You said it in the third sentence. Muslims even fear Muslims, at least the fanatical ones. it is my opinion that this is why religions should not have governmental control over nations. This allows the propagation of fear, hatred, and racism in these nations and the governments fear retribution by the fanatics, so they are not willing to step up and go after them. So, until the peace loving Muslims of this world stand up and say enough is enough, we are going to have to deal with these fools, or at least continue to fight them in the middle east before it is brought to our own soils in an even worse way than it is now.
by and by though, it is a peaceful culture that produces a pleasant people when they are not in fear of their own lives.
It is a shame that they will not stand up against the fanatics, because it makes a lot of people want to kill them all.
This will most likely happen unless they do something about it.

The Muslim Culture does not appear very open or friendly from someone on the outside. This leads to misunderstandings and if acts of violent by members of the Muslim Culture are not condemned by their own group then this will only lead to more violence and contempt. Islam does not teach violence, so where does it stem from? Vengeance is mine says the Lord, no one elses.

islam a religion of mercy doesnot permit terrorism. in the quran(muslims book.. holly quran) god has said: ""god does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly withthose whoo have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes . The majority of Christians are sometimes tainted by the overzealous in their own religion too. Look at the ones that shoot abortion doctors or blow up abortion clinics. I'd call them terrorists too, wouldn't you?
