Absolutely.

But I was paid to spy. One of the trade secrets is mechanic mirror wand which has two uses. Think of it as six inch black
plastic handle with either a flexable metal stem or telescopes
as metal sections with wrist snap out of handle to flex as needed. Stem end of both types is small nickle metal backed two inch diameter (or smaller) mirror.

1. Mirror allows view from around corners or ceiling tiles.
2. Tool becomes an emergency non-lethal weapon.

Available from most mechanic supply sources. Police supply
firms offer best but there are provisions regarding purchase.
Unlike camera systems this is easily concealed in public use
area transit and never has electrical problems. If in dressing
rooms look for gaps at wall contact with ceiling tile and A/C grate, ceiling tile, wall floorboard, overhead lamps, etc. - etc.
Camera lens can be the size of a silver colored LED in fixed
socket or flex cable to snake into view as desired. There is a ton of other gear available and it all gets used more often
because we live in interesting times.

I'm afraid to admit this, but when I was about 10, we were on a road trip. I used the bathroom last at a gas station and saw a hole in the wall. I peaked through and some guy was peeing. Well, he must have heard or saw me cause he stuck "it" right up next to the hole and started playing with it! I was so freaking horrified (I had no idea what he was doing with that thing) and I ran out of the bathroom screaming!

I spied on the Russians once. But then the Cold War
finished, and the US ran out of cash to pay me.

Lol.

Yes, I was doing some Sub Rosa work. (Workmans comp fraud.) I had to sit down the street from a suspected workmans comp recipient, and hopefully catch him in the act. Never caught him though.

Yes, with binoculars, a walkie talkie and shades and a wig-oh, was that a movie of some sort?

Sometimes I've wanted to get some of those spy cams and night goggles to spy on people I like... then I remember it's stalking and I blush a little.
