It depends on the couple. I had a relationship which lasted 4 years and did not include sex at all, although we were intimate. The relationship ended for reasons other than the lack of sex! Some people can cope with platonic relationships but for others it would be unthinkable.

why get married if you aren't going to have sex and procreate? why get bound up in a legal contract like that if you don't have to?
Sex is what it is, and how important it is happens to be is up to the individual, so if a married couple don't agree on the importance in their own particular lives, the marriage isn't going to last long.

It just depends. It should definitely be a priority, but with many couples it gets put on the back burner due to work, stress, family life, etc.

I couldn't tell you, I'm not married.
Not to mention more teens are getting laid and knocked up too...so you should just say relationship, not married couple.

i would say that it should definitely be a part of a healthy relationship. while a marriage shouldn't be based only on sex, sex can add to what is already there.
