My blood pressure has been very high since I was 37 weeks and said I had hypertension that could quickly lead to preclampsia if not addressed. My doctor said it would be safer to induce this week. I am 39 weeks so the baby is ready, I have just heard horrible stories and need encouraging. I only want the baby to be safe. Any good, happy stories??? Please help!

I was induced with my second. There was never a problem. Everything was smooth. It was kind of nice, being able to "prepare" pack myself up, and my daughter for grandmas house. I was able to get the house all cleaned the day before I left. Actually, knowing the pain that was going to come with contractions, soon as I got into my hospital bed,I said I wanted an epidural, so I was truly pain free the whole time. While I sat in the hospital bed, my husband and I played cards, I read some magazines joked with the nurse.I am now pregnant with my third, and will likely see if I can be induced at 40 weeks. Try not to worry, I personally have not heard of any horror stories with being induced, and I hope it stays that way. LOL good luck!

I have a encouraging story for you....
When I was pregnant with my daughter I needed an amniocenteses to see if she was ready to be born or not... Let me go back and tell you why.. I Had hurt my back and during the course of the pregnancy I had had a lot of contractions and some bleeding... So at 33 weeks the doctor deiced to check her out... I will never forget the pain of that test..... It was on Thursday( I can remember this because I went home to watch CSI one last time by myself). However the test sent me into labor and after 80 +s hours in labor I had to have a c-section.. I must say that you need to be strong and get ready for anything.. My daughter was a 34 week-er that came home with me. She weighted 5 pounds 14 ounces and was 20 inches long... So now I laugh at the fact that I never complained of the pain of contractions only the pain in my legs from my back... So be Strong.... Anything may and will probably happen...

Relax. I was induced 28 years ago. I kept having false labor pains, and lived an hour and a half away from the hospital. The 3rd time I went, I told the doctor I can't take it anymore. I was at the end of my 9th month, and at the end of my wits.

Well it went very well. So don''t worry. If you trust your doctor, and I am sure you do then you are in good hands.

I had preeclampsia--not fun. I was in the hospital at 32 weeks!!

Inducing is fine! It's uncomfortable as contractions get more intense and they put more gel or a pill into your cervix, but it's fine. And getting your water broken is a piece of cake.

The only annoying thing is that they will put an internal heart monitor by your cervix, and going pee with an IV AND an internal monitor are TOUGH.

Honestly though, labor is going to stink.

I was in labor for 24 hours before they took me in for a c-section. That was a lesson as to why preeclampsia at 35 weeks stinks!!

Good luck!!

I had to be induced both pregnancies. My first went perfect. They broke my water about 6 in the morning, when the contractions came they were intense but luckily I recieved my epidural shortly after. I felt a lot of pressure but no pain when it was time to push. And I gave birth to a beautiful healthy girl. My second induced labor was horrible though.

My sister was induced last year with her first baby. He came out a beautiful, healthy baby boy and we just celebrated his 1st birthday on the 10th. He is the love of her life, I can tell.

My aunt's baby was premature and she has to be induced becuase of complications. She was scared because she was months early. But she was induced and her baby just turned 11 - so I guess she isnt a baby anymore! My point is that she wasnt even ready and everything turned out all right.

Good luck and I hope you have a healthy, happy baby!

My s-i-l had her first toddler on April seventeenth after 4 years of attempting. such as you she replaced into dignosed with severe blood tension and positioned on finished mattress relax. Her Dr. brought about her at 7 am, she did nicely with hard artwork (unquestionably mentioned it wasn't as undesirable as she theory it may be) and an quite pleased healthy Hailey joined us at 7pm. you're able to be calm, being nervous in basic terms will improve your blood pressur. Your familiar practitioner is inducing you so your toddler won't have misery for the duration of delivery, all will pass nicely, and you'd be retaining your effective equipment deal on your hands quickly sufficient. then you definately will could hardship approximately 2 am feedings, teething, the poor twos, and so on. you will do superb and so will toddler, stable success to you!

Well, as you have read there are good and bad stories. Remember that these doctors and nurses do this every day. Their job is to make you comfortable and to answer any questions that you have. I was induced at 41 weeks and had a c-section the next day. It was honestly not that bad!!! He was 9pounds!! I was kinda glad that I did not have him the other way! :) Relax. You will be fine!!! Good luck!!!

I was enduced with my 1st child. We were at the hospital for a regular ultrasound. Her head was so low in the birth canal, and there was a raging ice storm outside (remember the one that ravaged Montreal in 1997?). We lived 2 hours away, so they preferred to induce at 38 weeks than send me home. They estimated that I would have gone into labour within 24 hours. I had a balloon catheter overnight to start dilation (uncomfortable at worst) Then they started the drug to increase dilation. I managed to make it 7 hours before real labour started. The induction isn't terrible, everyone will have different labour situations. Focus on the fact that one day of yuck and pain = a lifetime of joy, it's only one day. ps she was perfect, and still is.
