Unfortunately, love is hard to see though the bad stuff. And with the circle of abuse, he hits her and then he is sorry, treats her great and then does it again, and then it all starts over. And she loves him so she stays. She needs to see that this is hurting the child, and it is, the child will have to be very strong not to get into a relationship like this one when they are of age or not to be the same way with a woman that they are with, because that is what they were raised to see.
She really needs to be shown that she is worth more than to be a hitting pole and she needs to be supported in all aspects to leave, financially a lot of woman stay because they can't make it on there own. there is help for battered women. Please seek the help in your area and then take that help to her and support her if she can bring her self to leave, but as with drugs, if she is not willing to leave you can't make her. You can only help someone if they are willing to make the change to better their lives.

For the sake of you and your child, i suggest you leave this man right away!!!! You cant stick around with someone who hurts you constantly because its not healthy, physically and mentally on your part. For your child, boy or girl, you wouldnt want him or her to think that this type of action is ok or that this is how you handle a situation. This would also affect your child in the mere future. Please take my advice and tell your friend to get the hell out of there!!!!!!

Well, you just need to be a good friend and support her.
You cannot make her do anything. She is an idiot for staying with a man who abuses her for SEVENTEEN YEARS and right in front of their child.
What kind of example is she giving her child?

You should find out about battered women's shelters in your town or a nearby city, and help her get there. If he is abusing her physically, eventually he will probably abuse their child too. Help her with money, transporation, whatever it takes to get her out of that house while he is away at work and get her to a shelter where she can get counseling. Help her file for divorce.

Your friend thrives on the abuse. Let her make her own decisions.
