The sad reality is it isn't the Tech Massacre, the war, lettuce, spinach , or petfood contamination- it was (and still is a little)the Anna Nicole Smith death and her son, the birth of the child, and who is the daddy, the funeral, where would she be buried, and was she murdered or was it an overdose? Not that Anna Nicole or her son and child wasn't important but it was on every channel, continuously for months and still there are dribbles of the topic that seep into our tv screens.
I can't think of anything good that happened this year that the media has blown up. Rather, it's always super negative. Sad.

Unfortunately, it was Anna Nicole Smith, American Idol, Virginia Tech shootings and Don Imus...

I can tell you what were NOT the biggest news stories...

The Iraq War
Hate Crimes against gays at all-time highs
The Land-line wars with Native Reservations over gambling...
The Homeless in America
The destruction of public access in the media
The diversion of taxes to the Churches through "faith based intiatives"...
Google sponsors government censorship for China in Tibet...
Halliburton moves its headquarters to Dubai...

The list goes on...

These are dark times and I hope that you can find some happy news to comemorate your daughter's young life... I hope the headlines get better in her lifetime...
Congratulations!

Sadly, I think it's the Virginia Tech shooting. That's pretty sad, as it was front page news for weeks, while think like "182 people killed in Bahgdad" was on page two. I wouldn't put either in a baby book, though.
