They are all different. My first came early and it was 12 hours from when I was admitted until I delivered (we spent most of the day trying to stop the contractions though.) The waiting is the hardest part. I swear labor is so easy compared to waiting through the last 6 weeks of pregnancy. I'm at 32 weeks with my third and entering the waiting period. I'm anxious for him to come. This is your first, use this time to do all the little things you like to do that you will not be able to later, video games, computer games, reading, going out with friends. There are lots of things that will not be as much fun and you will not have much time for very soon. Good luck.

Went into labor on a thursday night. Didnt give birth til 11am Saturday. Total labor: about 38 hours. Got me an epidural after about 25 hours, got some rest, and unfortunately, it wore off before I had to start pushing, and the anesthesiologist had gone home. I was the only one giving birth at the time. Saturday morning, I had been laboring all that time, and my water still wasnt broken. So they broke it. A couple hour later, she was born. It was hard because our heart rates were both dropping, and they had to give me a deep episiotomy and use the vacuum to get her out fast. Gosh, I'm crazy for wanting to do this again! lol. But just as everyone says, its well worth it. Heres hoping that you will be one of those lucky girls with a pleasant 2 hour labor!

with my first I started off having contractions every 10 mins TWO DAYS before I went into active labor. I hit active labor in the morning and left for the hospital and had my daughter over 17hrs later.(she was facing up instead of facing down and stalled my progress. I actually gave birth to her in the hallway on the way to have a C-section)
With #2 I had my first contraction at almost 12pm and he was born by 4pm that same day.
#3 was a long labor as well....and #4 was rediculously long I think labor is only short for me if it's a boy.....my girls love to give me a time. Good luck...the first one is usually the roughest.

I went prematurely at 33 weeks, and my labor started at 2:25 AM. I delivered at 8:10 AM. The doctor said with the next one I needed to camp out at the hospital or be prepared for home delivery, lol.

With my first my water broke just before 4 am, thus sending me to the hospital. My daughter was born at 1:25 that afternoon. Preterm labor was miserable and started at about 31wks.

Baby #2 my water broke about 2am and off to the hospital we went. My first son was born at 9:45 that night. More preterm labor starting again at about 31 wks.

Baby #3 labor started about 12 am, I left for the hospital about 2 am. Doctor broke my water a few hours later and son #2 was born at 12:18 that afternoon. No preterm labor!

I was in labor for about 12 hours with my first. My labor started in late afternoon and I delivered early early the next morning. I lucked out and didn't feel any contractions at first. I knew I was in labor b/c my water broke. It went pretty smooth though. Good luck! This is such an exciting time!

I was one of the lucky ones, my labor started at about 8:30 in the morning, and I delivered at 12:30 that afternoon. But I'm sure you know that others are even more lucky, and some not so lucky. I have four kids now. And my last child was delivered within thirty minutes of beginning labor. Good luck with yours. Children are true miracles.

You never are the same as anyone else..
I got heartburn (severe) at about 9pm and my hubby freaked out and rushed me to the hospital...we found out that I had the start of toxemia! So at 10am the next morning they induced me. I started feeling contractions about 3pm! Slight and then harder and harder.... the actual hard labor only lasted 45 min.!! How cool is that?
I was scared - everybody told me horror stories and scared me like crazy. It was nothing like that! It was great and it hurt worse to get a tooth pulled than labor.
Congradulations and I hope everything goes great for you!
