My brother died recently. I am a high school student who typically makes straight A's but now I just cannot focus on school at all. I have a great scholarship comming my way for college next year, but at this rate I am going to lose it. IN fact, I am supposed to be doing school work right now!

Does anyone have advice as far as how to get through the next few weeks of school, including finals without really screwing up my GPA. When college starts next year I am worried I will not be able to focus on that either.

My brother was really young, 19 and he graduated last year. He had a terminal illness and we have known all his life that he would die young (In case that helps you all understand the situation.)

You need to accept that you can't change the state of whats going on. Also feel that you if you fail yourself now your failing your bro to, I'm pretty sure he had no intentions of you throwing your future away because you couldn't accept what you new was coming. I got side-swiped by the death of one of my bros around your age, ether you find away to help it give you purpose or you suffer the lost of that purpose they gave you when they were alive. Just realize your not doing you or him any favors by forgetting your responsiblilities. Also ether talk to people that have been thru this, or go to a therapist or consuller. Its just great to talk this stuff out, I was lucky cause I had plenty of friends suffering with me...

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. Perhaps you can focus on what your brother would want you to do if he were alove today. Your brother I'm sure would want you to continue getting those A's so do it for him. Live your life to the fullest, because life is too short to do it any other way. I'm sure your parents would really appreciate your success because they lost a son and now you must carry on the legacy.

Take comfort in the following poem:

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Wado ~
