Don't try to remove the keys! i had something under one of my laptop keys and removed it...there's a flimsy piece of plastic that keeps the key popped up and it breaks very easily..mine broke. They don't sell that little plastic piece ANYWHERE..you have to buy a new keyboard adn that comes close to $100! So to clean, just use those air canisters to spray underneath and around it. Works like a charm.

There is two ways there is a can of spray that they sell that is air pressured and you can spray it in the key board and it will force it out. On the other had use a vacummn the noggle piece that is ment for small areas (like a register part) is is long and narrows at the bottom but is small enough not to suck up the keys if they come loose. run this over the gapped areas and the hair will come right out of there. Then I would get a key board cover to go right over the keyboard to keep it clean and it is an easy clean up.
Also if you pick the key board up and tip up side down and shack it back and forth not to fast and you will be SURPRISED what comes out that you dont see. We do this once a week it the office and all of our computer.
best of luck

Hi
You can pop the keys off of the keyboard to clean under them. Turn your laptop off and take one off first then put it back on before you start tearing the whole thing apart so that you are comfortable with what you are doing! I take one row at a time off once a year to clean them. You can also get the canned air that will force everything out from under there without having to tear it apart. If you are under 18 your parents will have to buy it for you but it is a great product and can save you hundreds of dollars on repairs!
If you decide to take the key covers off be sure when you put them back on that the contact is 100% clean. Chase kitty out of the room while you are doing this so your contact is good!
You can clean the computer key and contacts with a SLIGHTLY dampened cloth, dampened with alcohol, 70% is good but if you can find the 90% it is better. I just use the alcohol pads they sell at the drug store and a lint free cloth to dry it and be sure there is no moisture under there to short out my keyboard. Be sure to take your battery out, press your on button to discharge any electricity left in there and unplug before you clean!
Best of luck!

The whole keyboard comes out. You will not be able to take the individual keys off, you will not be able to put them back on once you break them off. You can get some canned air from office depot or something like that and clean it out that way.

Most laptops you can remove the keys like a "normal" keyboard - they are just flatter. You don't want to remove the entire keyboard as it is connected with a fragile ribbon cable.

I'm not sure you can remove the keys, but you can use compressed air with the little straw provided to get underneath the keys and blow all the junk out. It's really works and you can use it on your fans as well so you computer is clean inside and it does not overheat.

gee, well, I'm not sure, but i know that they sell different brushes to use for stuff like that. also, a cheaper and more efficient way to get it clean would be to simply use a toothpick. i think that would work.
also, i read somewhere that if you keys are dirty, you could chew a piece of gum, till all of the flavor is out, and then dab the keys with it. it sounds really disgusting and I'd personally not do it, but it does work! like i said when i first heard it all i could think of was, "EWWWWW!!!!"

It is extremely easy to break the keys or fixings on a laptop. Use a small vacuum cleaner carefully, a car vac is best.

Ya, great question. Mine has a lot of things underneath also. Fingernails, cookies and lots of things. Let me know if the others answers your questions. I think maybe you can use cotton buds to clean them. With Best Regard.

Lots of good answers. But beware when using a vacuum. They generate static electricity which could zap your motherboard or other components.
I would stick with the compressed air.
