this is not a dig, but: i was reading what the signs of fascism are, and (surprise surprise)- massive patriotism, mass propoganda having the nations flag everywhere, mass rasism, attacking countries for monetry gain. All of this is found in America, i know they don't have a dictator- but maybe not too far away.
I dont want a massive gang mobbing of silly hicks i would prefer a nice debate.
what would the effect on the world be if they were fascist?

If you need permission to live every facet of your daily life, ....you are tracked through video and invasive spying practices, and your elections are co opted time and again...well, I think the proof exists that right this very moment as I type this it will be screened... yes it's already a police state... and the answerer is right, don't say Hicks, it's unnecessary and it belittles your point...
as for signs of patriotism, I have "Impeach' signs all over the place where I live ... and I think that is very patriotic.
Patriotism is ones love for their country not blind allegiance to an administration.

Actually, patriotism and flag waving are at a low right now in the U.S. I live on a street of about 50 houses, and we are the only ones that have a flag.
Its nothing like it was during WWII, when there was a flag on every house, everyone embraced the American ideal, and everyone contributed to being a patriot, and being part of the war effort. There are no Victory Gardens these day, heck, I'd be surprised if many Americans under the age of 25 even know what that is.
Edit: Racism is on a decline, too.

Those are also the signs of a successful Empire, a Democracy during an expansionist period, a Communist rally, etc...
For America to be considered "Fascist", you would have to analyze the political and economic situation, not just how big our rallys and flags are...
MRFEELSGOOD (ABOVE): as opposed to the chipping away at civil liberties by the Neo-Cons... You really don't make any sense when you trot out that propagandistic tripe. Even the guy who wrote it couldn't sell it well, but secondhand it just reads like... well... idiocy.

No, our country has continued to shift to the Left since the November elections. People are less and less convinced by appeals to "patriotism" and racist attacks against immigrants and Arabs/Muslims, and though their reasons vary, the vast majority of people in this country are opposed to the war in Iraq. I think the Right in this country is still trying to recover, and they will be for a while. The biggest obstacle to the Left right now is actually the Democratic Party, which is doing its best to channel Leftist sentiment into voting for Obama or Clinton while holding back people's expectations.

Fascists Goverments appear when Working Class is defeated,e.i. In Spain after the defeat of the Republic,in Germany after the defeat of the insurrection of 1919,etc.
In all cases the "Socialist" parties betrayed Working Class letting the Fascist to prevail.
I dont believe it can happen in USA.

We were headed that way for a while, but then we elected an opposition congress to put a stop to that nonsense. It's one of the legislative branch's main constitutional functions to restrain the executive branch from that kind of power, and the Republicans weren't doing it. I'm quite relieved to see that the system does work, even if it's a little slower than we'd like.

Ok, I don't think we have mass racism, it is declining. Patriotism can be good or bad. I not aware of any mass propoganda going on right now. We haven';t attacked any country for monetary gain. I'm going to say no we aren't gearing toward a facist state.

BTW,you do know FDR rounded up Japanese Americans. He suppressed the media, used propaganda, etc. Dems would know more about it probably.

if by fascist you mean the merger of the interests of government and corporate, then yes there are signs. just the outsourcing of the Iraq war to private companies such as blackwater and haliburton would back it up. are we completely there yet? i hope not.
