Because 'gunpeople' don't want to have to shoot druggies Jonesing for drugs trying to rob them, it is a hard sell.
Druggies would want firearms so as getting money for their habit makes it easier to get if they are armed.

I believe that you might have a chance.
I am a gun person who has never used drugs. I am also a former cop.
I have always believed that we would be better off if drugs were legalized and taxed.
However I would also like to suggest that the Libertarian party end its focus on legalizing drugs. Many of my friends who have libertarian leanings tend to be turned off by this. I have heard the Libertarians referred to as the drug legalizing party. I am not saying that it does not have merits but I believe there are many more important issues.
