You can be infected by just being connected to the internet. Without proper protection, firewall, antivirus, (1). an atleast three antispyware, for sure you can get hit with trojans, worms, malware, spyware, trace spyware and keyloggers.

If you have really good antivirus protection with a background scanner, the scanner will kill a virus in real times, when you are connected to the net, or open a webpage.

Yes, your computer can become compromised by malware simply by having an active internet connection. That's what we use firewalls for.

One should NEVER disable a firewall in order to make a game, some program,or a webcam etc work. It is a major no-no. Your computer can be attacked or infected with worms and viruses in minutes!

Learn how to properly configure your firewall, but never disable it, even for a minute. A firewall is there for a very good reason: to protect you from hackers! Firewall is your friend.

Also keep your Windows 100% updated with all critical and security updates to patch the holes that let malware infect Windows.

Yes you can, but viruses like that are highly advanced and extremely rare to even hear about. The chances of you getting something like that is like 1 to 1 trillion.
