mp3 is a music file
swf is a flash file.
mp3 can't play videos
swf can play videos+audio
and i dont know if it loads faster, but it probably will as it is swf lol!

.swf is a flash file totally different than an mp3 in many ways.
It requires the user to have flash where as mp3 is a media file and uses many different players.
As far as download speed it all depends on the size of the file.

.swf is a Macromedia (Adobe now) Shockwave file. It's completely different than an .mp3. .swf is typically animated pictures, etc.... .mp3 is music ;)
