I just watched "Last of the Mohicans " last night. First time in a long time. One of my all time favorites. I also liked "In the Name of the Father" and his co-starring role in "The Bounty" with Mel Gibson. WHY? WHY? WHY did he do that terrible movie "Gangs of New York"? His career took such a downturn after that one. He played such an evil and sleazy character. Nothing glorious or inspiring about it. As opposed to the way his earlier movies started. If you know what i mean?

First of all, in my opinion, Daniel Day Lewis was great in that. Also, his career didn't go downhill. In fact Scorcese brought him out of retirement from shoe making in Italy specifically to play this role. He has since gone back to Italy to perfect his shoe making, so it wasn't like he couldnt' get any work after that role. He has just chosen to seldomly choose a role he wants to do. Good news, though: He'll be starring in PT Anderson's new film comming soon, titled: There Will Be Blood.
