I don't want to pay the amount that Lids charges to just to convert the file. They charge $85 which is way to much in my opinion.

There is software out there that will do the conversion for you, but it's not free and it requires some knowledge of the embroidery process to use. Maybe you can find a computer embroidery hobbyist who will do it for you tor less.

Most likely if they are saying they have to "convert" the jpeg file, that means that the jpeg may not be of good enough quality. Unfortunately, that means they probably have to re-create the artwork into a file format that will work for the embroidery. Unless you can do that yourself using design software like Photoshop or Illustrator, you're going to have to pay someone to do it. OR, it could just be the $85 is an initial fee that most all embroidery companies charge when they create a new item - it's a charge to create the initial "plate" or "template" for the embroidery. That should only be a one-time fee, and then from there, if you get any other items embroidered using that same artwork, you would just have to pay for the items themselves, no other set up fees, which can be pretty inexpensive. In my professional opinion and based on what I think you are trying to do, I don't think there is any way for you to get around the $85 fee. I hope this helps.
