I am going to get the cartilidge on the top of my ear pierced. My friend asked me which ear I was gonna have done, I didn't know it really mattered. Does it?

My friend had it done, and she said she always sleeps on her right side, so she got the piercing in her left ear. I've heard it can be painful when you lay on them. Other than that I don't think it really matters which ear you choose.

Well, back in the day when people were making a mass migration out of the closet, most gay men had their right ear pierced signifying their stance on sex. Also, most straight men chose either to have the left ear pierced to show their stance, or both to really look cool or macho. Now days it does matter to some people where and which ear gets the extra piercing, and to some it doesn't. Go with what you want and what you think will look the best for you. That's what I did and I haven't any complaints.

I have my left one done. I have heard that the side you get it on means something, just like which side you choose to wear an anklet on...I can't help you out with the meanings since I DO ME, and don't care what the meanings are...anywho they probably apply to ME anyway!!

Have fun with it, and it is painful. You have to take care of a cartilige piercing a lot more because it is in a sensitive place. Best Wishes!!

Nope, there's no meaning in ear piercings anymore.

But go to a real piercer, not just the mall, if they pull out the piercing gun run. The piercing gun, if used to pierce cartilage, can cause a cauliflower ear, which means it breaks your cartilage and causes it to deform.

A good piercer is worth his weight in uhm, stainless steel jewelry ha.

Matters for what? The old stereotypes of left/right went away a long time ago. Get whichever side YOU want done.

A cartilage piercing takes a long time to heal. Keep it clean, try to keep hair products away from it. Mine took a year to completely heal.

Actually it does, its like a mark, if you make it in the left ear it means you are straight and if you do it in the right ear it means you are gay. The same happened to me when id id mine, my friend asked me and he told what it meant on each ear.

i don't think so but the reason you only normally get one done is because they hurt really bad and it is hard to sleep i got both done at one time and i still have problems with them gettin sore and i have had mine almost a year!

It's completely up to you and no piercing has any meaning anymore. it's all person choice and self expression.

DEPENDS ON WHAT SIDE YOU SLEEP ON BECAUSE IT HURTS BAD AND YOUR NOT GONNA WANT TO LAY ON THAT SIDE.
