I want to choose between a Nano (8Gig) and a full size iPod (30Gig.)

I care not at all about video.

The nub of the question is, I think: Does the full-size have much more functionality in-so-far as searching and programming?

I think the 8Gig is enough memory, and I'll choose it for it's size (a modest advantage) as long as I'm not sacrificing much capability.

The ONLY downside to the full size is it's physical size... and even then it's not too big a deal, to me. But enough to push me to the Nano, if indded all other things are equal and 8Gig is sufficient.

Price doesn't eneter it as they are exactly the same price.

What say you?

Two questions....how much do you like music? How often do you want to want to buy new iPods?

If you buy the 8 GB it'll last a while, but if you download a lot of music, it won't all fit on the iPod (no fun! I know from experience).

But, if you don't expect to download a lot of music or you don't mind upgrading iPods every year or two then go for the 8 GB.

I think the search functions should be the same...

Unless you have a lot of music that you absolutly NEED to carry with you everywhere you go, like me, you dont need the 30 gig.

I greatly suggest the nano. It can hold a fair amount of music and it doesn't take up as much space.

i'd take the 30 gig. the nano is too small (in physical size). You can hardly see the screen. and the 30 gig isn't that big. Its better to have one with more memory than you need than having not enough memory.

If you are Happy with 8GB, nano is the best decision. Both Nano and 30GB I pod got same functions except for the video viewing function in nano.

I have the big one and even though I don't keep all of my music on it (I use the manual function rather than the sync so I can nab music from friends' computers), I keep well over 8g on it...I personally think the 30g are worth it - and with the manual function, you could actually just store your music on your ipod and keep your computer free!
