i have a gash in toward the stern of my boat. i need an inexpensive way to repair it.

this may depend on the size of the hole, the location of the hole, but i certainly would not want to do a permenent repair with silicon, especially if the hole is below the water line, or can get ripped off by fast moving water. epoxy may work, marine-tex may work - but it is probably best to have it welded up by a welder. shouldn't be too expensive. good luck!

i fixed my boat with silicone or epoxy. i plugged the drain with silicone and it doesn't leak at all, i also had a tear about 1 inch by half inch and siliconed it too. make sure it is dry and clean put it on and let dry for about 10-12 hours before putting it back into the water.

you can use an epoxy to fill the hole. The best repair though would be to weld it up. Take it to a welding shop. It might not be as expensive as you think.
